Name: Michael Joseph Jackson
Date of Birth: 29 August 1958
Profession: Singer / Dancer
Michael Jackson, the “King of Pop”, had a unique talent which the world had never seen before. However, behind his talent came a deeply upsetting childhood. His father was deeply ambitious and had high hopes for Michael along with his siblings. As Michael was the youngest and proved to be the one with the greatest talent, his father often punished him to extract the most from his performances. Michael has often commented that this extreme pressure from his father prevented him from having a regular childhood, which traumatised him and caused him trouble. However, his strong mindset enabled him to battle on and grow to become a superstar. He eventually outshined everybody in his family. By overcoming the problems of his youth, he could conquer the world.
Jackson is not only known for his musical talent and his dancing prowess. He is also loved for his humanitarian work around the globe. He made a conscious decision to make a difference in the world to help the population. Through songs such as “Man in the Mirror”, “Heal the World” and “Earth Song” he shared his deep passion to save the planet, environment and people within it, particularly in third-world countries. This was all predisposed in his mind since his childhood, from watching TV in his home with his Mother. They used to watch programmes about children from other countries who were poor and in awful conditions. He used to tell himself and his Mother that one day he would do something to help them.
He supported many charities during his lifetime and even entered the Guinness Book of World Records for supporting 39 charities at the time, 2000. He is also known for his “We are the World” project which was a song he wrote alongside Lionel Richie and performed. The song raised millions of dollars towards famine relief in Africa, supporting his childhood ideas. His philanthropy and humanitarianism encouraged his fans and also companies to pledge donations to the charities supported by Michael Jackson. Such was the widespread appeal of Michael Jackson, even when he was not directly contributing to bettering the planet, he was inspiring other like-minded individuals to do so through their own actions.
Over the course of his career, he worked his way up in the music and film industries, getting together and working with his family and band members. Together, the Jackson family achieved huge success during the early stages of his career but Michael was always the real star. His next step was to become a solo artist and after some moderate success with his first four albums, in 1979 he released the eight-time platinum album “Off the Wall” produced by legendary Producer Quincy Jones. Following this, together they worked tirelessly to produce a further two albums to worldwide acclaim, “Thriller” and “Bad”. Jackson’s career peaked alongside Quincy Jones and as such he received less success with his follow up projects. Despite this, his legend was cemented globally, before personal issues and allegations arised in the mid ‘90s and continued towards his unusual death in 2009.

Michael Jackson’s Keys to Success:
Learn from the Best – For whatever it is that you would like to achieve, look towards those that are already masters in that area. Taking tips from those who are not at the top level may only inspire you to be around the level that they accomplished. By finding the top performers and following their advice, you will pick up good habits for success.
Enjoy your own Company – By trying to become the person that you want to be, you will naturally enjoy being around yourself more. Generally, those that do not like their own company are those that are not being as productive as they would like with their time. Make the most of your time and you will gain a new-found appreciation for yourself.
Put in the Hours – Nobody has ever fell to the top of a mountain from the bottom, the same is true of life. To be the best, you need to invest a lot of time in an activity. As a rule of thumb, 10,000 hours is said to be the amount of time needed to achieve “mastery” in many subject areas, however this does not consider advantages due to natural or physical abilities. Keep on plugging away with the activity regardless of its difficulty and even if you cannot achieve the goal you set, you will have improved.
