Since this moment, Denzel Washington has gone from strength to strength and built up huge popularity for his acting roles in TV and Film, in addition to his direction and production work. His thoughtfulness has been a central theme in most of his role choices and although a lot of his films have centred on stories that challenge people’s opinions and views of the world, he also sees the benefit in making films that simply aim to entertain the audience.

Washington has always looked to keep his focus on his religion and tries to live his life per the positive values of Christianity. He tries to notice and act when he needs to work hard but has before highlighted being careful not to just make movement aimlessly, instead he points that movement or growth needs to be towards an actual goal. Paramount to his Christianity, he believes that for him to receive good things, he needs to be good to others. He says that a certain fulfilment can be had from assisting other people and helping them realise their own potential.

This success he has received hasn’t gone to his head, and this can be attributed to his overall character. He has remained grounded and hates to think of himself as a celebrity, or associated with its culture. With a list of big name actors and directors wanting to work alongside him, and many projects being offered to him, Denzel Washington is certainly one of the most successful and respected actors in the world. Denzel Washington Mindset – Quotes:

“I’d be more frightened by not using whatever abilities I’d been given. I’d be more frightened by procrastination and laziness.”

“I say luck is when an opportunity comes along and you’re prepared for it.”

“Never help an ungrateful person get on their feet.”

“Put God first in everything you do. Everything that I have is by the grace of God, I understand that. It’s a gift. I didn’t always stick with Him, but He stuck with me.”

“When you do good, you get good! Fulfilment comes from serving others, not just hustling to serve yourself. On the path to success, there is always going to be an opportunity to help someone else be successful too. Take that opportunity, and be the kind of person who makes a difference in the lives of others.”

“Don’t tell me what was said about me. Tell me why were they so comfortable to say it to you?”

Denzel’s Keys to Success:

  • Help others – Take the opportunity to give people help in accomplishing the things they need if you can. Everybody in a position of success needed the assistance of others to help them get there so you should remember who has helped you in the past. Be careful only to help those that are grateful for the effort otherwise your efforts will be misguided.
  • Keep faith – Whether you believe in religion or not, you need to keep a belief that you are staying on the right path and that it will be worth it in the end. Without faith, it is very difficult to live your life to your greatest potential. Good choices come from a positive faith and identity, and this pays off with even better results.
  • Prepare for luck – Fail to prepare, prepare to fail. This well-known proverb is as relevant now as when it was invented and it will always stay the same way. By preparing for the things that you can influence, you can keep your composure and not be taken by surprise. Of course, things will still catch you out occasionally, but if you could not anticipate them, there wasn’t a way to prepare so don’t be hard on yourself. By preparing for the things you can, you can know you have given your best effort and reap the rewards of luck.
