Following this moment, his DJ career picked up steam as he started playing clubs and organising parties across France during the 90s. In 1994 he had a minor club hit with the track “Up & Away”. He spent the next few years building up his reputation as a DJ and teamed up with famous French DJ Josh Anka. Over the next few years, he maintained his rise to the top with his 2004 effort “Guetta Blaster” which reached the top 20 on the French albums chart, featuring vocals from numerous artists.
David Guetta – Stardom:
2007 was a good year for the performer, he had a hit in the UK with his third pop album “pop life” and broke into the US Billboard Hot 100 Chart with the single “Love is Gone”. He toured extensively to promote the release including a 2008 performance for 40,000 people in France at an event he founded with his wife alongside popular DJs like Tiesto and Carl Cox. The next year, the “Black Eyed Peas” requested his help for their album “The End” and the results were incredible. Guetta produced the single “I Gotta Feeling” which quickly became an international sensation and broke records to become the most downloaded song at that point, selling over 7 million digital copies in America. His work with the group even earned him two Grammy nominations. At this point, David Guetta had become a genuine star worldwide.

David Guetta Quotes:
“I’m not the type of person to live in fear. I think positively.”
“I’m totally not a nostalgic person. I always look to the future and as much as I’ve enjoyed the ride until now and the different phases, I’m more excited about the next music.”
“I headline concert halls for 20,000 people, but I still play smaller venues.”
“I don’t do this for money, I don’t do it for record sales, I don’t really care about that. I just want to make beats.”
“I had the most reversed education possible. Every parent wants their son to be a businessman, respectable – me, it was the opposite. When I had an artist career my mum was like, ‘Oh finally, I’m proud of you!’”
“So dance music is now pop music, so now, as a dance producer, what do I have to do? So I’m starting to do alien music, because pop is not pop anymore; we need to go alien to be independent.”
David Guetta’s Keys to Success:
- Remember Your Roots – Throughout your life and as you go about your daily activities, it can be hard to remember how you got to the position you are in. By remembering the positive aspects of your journey and those that helped you along your way, you will likely help others with their growth.
- Look to the Future – Rather than looking at past regrets and mistakes, adopt a forward-thinking mindset. You cannot change the past so why waste time and energy on it? By focusing on the future, you can focus on what you want and how to achieve it.
- Be Unconventional – Although it some fields it pays to stick to the tried and true, in other areas, particularly the arts and entertainment, creativity is key. Look to take influences from respectable individuals or those equal or better in your craft. You can piece together ideas from them to take you to creative heights.
